Fettucini Alfredo with Sausage and Roasted Peppers

Made this tonight. Totally made it up on the spot. Rumor has it was pretty good.

Measurements are ... guesses.

Stuff:

5 italian sausages

1/4 cup shiitake mushrooms, coarsely chopped

1 roasted red pepper chopped

sundried tomatoes to taste ( a couple pieces ) coarsely chopped

1 minced garlic clove ( or more. garlic loves company)

Red pepper flakes - optional.

Brown sausage. Reduce heat, add everything else and cover.

While the sausage is browning, start the alfredo.

Alfredo

butter - eh. 4 TBSP

2 shallots

up to 1/4 c flour

1 c parmesean cheese, shredded

1 pint heavy cream

Saute onions in butter until translucent. Slowly add flour to thicken. at this point, you're going to be stirring the sauce fairly constantly. Slowly stir in the cream, then the cheese. If the cheese is clumping, you can add a little water ( or milk or chicken broth ). Salt and pepper to taste.

Serve over fettucine. Or maybe bowtie.

Aquamacs 1.5 and TRAMP 2.1.14

I was having some difficulty using tramp in Aquamacs. Aquamacs is a port of GNU Emacs to the Mac OSX Aqua UI, and tramp is an Emacs module that allows you to edit remote files. Specifically, I need to use tramp's /multi method to ssh to a remote machine, then sudo to edit the file I was interested in. Tramp comes with the standard Aquamacs bundle, but it seems to be out of date. It looked like the problem might be solved by installing a newer version of TRAMP into Aquamacs. Here is what I did:

1. Downloaded TRAMP 2.1.14 from GNU.org.
2. Unpacked it. Duh.
3. ./configure --with-contrib
4. make
5. cp lisp/* ~/Library/Application\ Support/Aquamacs\ Emacs/site-lisp/
6. add (require 'tramp) to ~/Library/Preferences/Aquamacs\ Emacs/Preferences.el

Yay! C-x C-f /multi:ssh:me@remotehost:sudo:root@localhost:/etc/something/nifty.file works!

The handful of readers still left at this here corner of the online blogopolous are quite familiar with my love of webcomic Home on the Strange. Unfortunately, Ferrett and Roni decided to call it quits, and so my webcomic reading returned to the old standbys of PvP, Penny Arcade, and Dilbert.

So, Ferrett's got a new comic out called My Name Is Might Have Been. It's just starting out, but I gotta tell you, it's good stuff. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the main character Pete comes to a monastery...and well you'll have to see the rest for yourself. The first comic is here. Start at the beginning and read the commentary from the creators. If you don't like it, well...it was free.

In other webcomic news, Scott Kurtz (creator of PvP) has launched Ding!, a comic starring his PvP characters in World of Warcraft. It's good stuff, and heavy on teh funny. You're probably going to need to understand WoW to get a lot of the jokes, but feel free to stroll by.

Speaking of WoW, a month or two ago, we started our own guild (finally!)—The Power of Pants! If you have a toon on the Gnomeregan server, check us out. We'd love to have such fine readership join us.

Polar Plunge 2008

My younger brother, Matt, is participating in Polar Plunge 2008, a fund-raiser for the Special Olympics in Virginia. He will be jumping into the Atlantic Ocean in winter. I personally believe that he is perfectly qualified for such a feat, as he spent many a summer in the uber-cold waters of Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee.

The tricky factor is the cold air...can he do it? Of course, he can!

Alabama 41, Arkansas 38

I just realized that I hadn't posted my weekly Alabama update! Oh, no! Well, the Tide was able to manage a 41-38 victory over Arkansas last weekend.

Alabama dominated early, getting out to a 21-0 lead. Alabama would also lead 31-10 late in the 3rd quarter when Arkansas's Darren McFadden proved why he's the best player in the SEC (maybe the whole country), leading the Hogs to four consecutive touchdowns and a 38-31 lead in the 4th quarter. Alabama's offense then came back to life, driving down and getting a Leigh Tiffin field goal to make it 38-34. The Tide defense held, and QB John Parker Wilson drove the offense down to set up this play:

Alabama picks up their first 4th quarter come-from-behind victory in four years and moves into the rankings for the first time this season. Alabama moves to 3-0 on the season and into contention for the SEC West.

Alabama moved to 2-0 on Saturday with a big win at Vanderbilt. Terry Grant had yet another 100+ yard afternoon, and the Tide was able to hold off the much-improved Commodores. For video highlights of the game, go here to see ESPN's coverage.

Speaking of ESPN, next week's game is televised on ESPN2 at 6:45 PM, EST. The opponent: Arkansas.

Hello happy humans! Gretchen and I are in San Francisco getting ready to leave for fellow (dormant) Random Human Scott's wedding festivities. We've been here since Sunday, and have had many "adventures," some of which I'll chronicle in later posts. However, we have been shown a video treasure that just cannot wait. To preface, this is a film by Maria, the wonderful ex-roomate of Scott's that has been a more-than-gracious host to G and myself. It's quite...interesting, I'd say. It stars Maria, Amy (Scott's bride-to-be), Weezy (one of the twin-roomates of Maria...also an awesome human), and of course, Scott. Enjoy, and more to come when we return to Ohio!

Benoit Update

Yesterday, my favorite professional wrestler was found dead in his home.

Yesterday, I was sad.

Today, I am pissed.

It appears that Chris Benoit killed his wife and son over the weekend, and then himself on Monday. It's not confirmed yet, but it's a safe bet that that's what happened.

Chris Benoit was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Period. This is a legacy that cannot be taken from him. One would be foolish to try.

Chris Benoit is most likely a murderer. Period. He killed his wife, kids, and self. This is a legacy that could have been avoided, but is now his. No human can take that away from him. One would be foolish to try.

If you did this, Benoit, damn you.

Last night, CM Punk and Edge cried openly on the air. Steve Austin, John Cena, Chavo Guerrero, Jr., and Dean Malenko told you how much they loved you. Those were just some of the examples...

And now, that is all meaningless. You have tarnished the legacy of everything good in professional wrestling and strengthened the legacy of everything bad in it.

Thanks for the memories, Chris Benoit. I hope that one day I can enjoy them again.

Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy (who performed as Woman), and son, Daniel, were found dead today in their Atlanta home. That's all I know...I'm no news dude. Chris was 40 years old.

Those that know me know that Chris Benoit has been my favorite wrestling performer since 1995, when he became a member of the Four Horsemen in WCW. I'll be watching WWE Raw tonight...which is no longer about Mr. McMahon's fake death. Hopefully they'll drop that crap tonight.

My prayers are with the Benoit family.

I did it.

I've been trying to stay away, but I was weak.

OK...actually...um...it's Justin's fault...and Josh's...yeah...blame it on them...that's the ticket.

Perhaps it's better to start at the beginning...

I've recently upgraded my computer. It's nothing special, but the box is now less archaic and more just "a step or two behind" current. Thanks to my Mom, I was able to last another year or so with my previous set up (she gave me her old computer whose hard drive was on the fritz to replace my old case/motherboard/power supply that was disabled by a power surge at the hands of lightning), but I really needed an upgrade. Josh and Justin realized this, and since I'm basically broke, stepped up and helped me out. Here's the rundown of who contributed what to my new setup:

Sam - new case, new 512 stick of memory, monitor, speakers, printer, scanner, keyboard, mouse, external cables, comic relief
Justin - motherboard, processor, processor fan, hard drive cables, general knowledge and awesomeness
Josh - DVD-RW drive, 80 gb hard drive, 512 stick of memory, tools, first attempt case and video card, swift kick in Sam's pants so that he actually would upgrade this century
Heath - 20 gb hard drive, video card that we actually used, staying away from the house so that my dog didn't bark at him thereby disallowing any progress on building the machine

All told, I'm out about 100 bucks. Not too shabby.

Anywho, immediately upon my upgrade, Josh wanted me to try out Final Fantasy XI with him and Joe. I was set to give it a go, when Justin did something kind of evil...

He received a World of Warcraft free trial from a co-worker.

In all fairness, I've had many people (that I'm not terribly close to) attempt to get me into the game before, but I haven't had the computer specs nor the desire to play with folks I barely know. However, now that Justin was trying it out, I had to.

I had to, I tell you!

Really!

So, anyway, we have been playing for about a week now and it is a tremendous game. Worth all the hype, it's a beautiful world (albeit not as pretty as FF11, OK Josh?) with tremendous gameplay. Justin and I have since assimilated Josh and Phill (and maybe Joe, soon) into WoW. You may notice a recurring theme amongst our character names, which follow:

Randompants - Lvl 13 Human Mage (Sam)
Krunchypants - Lvl 12 Gnome Rogue (Justin)
Thorinpants - Lvl 11 Dwarf Paladin (Josh)
Bigpants - Lvl 10 Human Paladin (Phill)

We play in the Thunderhorn Realm. Expect screenshots of our adventures as we go along. If you happen to find yourself in Thunderhorn, look us up (tell us you read the site) and we'll buy you a (in-game) beer.

The information I was able to find on the web about Nero 7 compatibility on Vista was pretty frustrating and incomplete. However, I just ran the installer from the CD - which bombed, then I ran the update installer from Nero's site here. Looks like a success so far. Hope this helps!

New Look for a New Year

Hello there!

Long time no post, I know.

Well, I've made a bit of a New Year's Resolution. I'm committing to a minimum of one new post a week on this here site here from now on. However, this week and next don't count so much (although you're getting a post today).

"Why?" you may ask.

Well, as you no doubt have noticed (unless you're one of the two or three people who subscribe and are reading this through a reader like Bloglines), our look has changed. I have not cleared this with any of the other contributors, but here's the reason:

I'm tired of the black background. (Oh, and because I like green, dammit.)

BlackroseWorld.com has come into it's own a bit lately, and I've chosen to de-emphasize the black color here so that the two blogs can have their own look and feel. Josh has a damn fine look to his blog, and I'm itching for a fresh start, so I changed things up a bit here.

Now, I'm not completely satisfied with the appearance right now, so bear with me. This week and next, I'll be working behind the scenes to reconstruct some of the formatting we lost with the template change and to adjust the new color scheme to my liking. So, I'll be on the blog, but I may not get a post up. However, the week of January 15, I plan on having a "greatest hits" post. If you have a favorite that you'd like me to feature, email me and I'll take a look.

Also, until Comments are back up, email me with any comments on the new look.

Iron Bowl Today

Today, Alabama and Auburn meet in Tuscaloosa. Most don't give the Tide a chance to win, and I don't know if they can stay on the field with Auburn either from a talent standpoint. Of course, all of that analysis is irrelevant, because of one simple thing...

It's the freakin' Iron Bowl - the best rivalry in college football, if not all of sports!

For those not keeping score, I live in Columbus, Ohio, where the talk of the town is this little game happening on campus between Ohio State and Michigan. You know...the #1 team in the country vs. the #2 team in the country. It's kind of a big deal here. Of course, Gretchen and I have to remind people that we won't be watching, intriguing as the game is.

OSU-Michigan (3:30 EST, ABC) is being shown at the same time as Alabama-Auburn (3:30 EST, CBS). I wish my OSU-loving friends well, but my support (I am a Columbus guy now - I like seeing OSU do well, even though I'm not a true fan) will be regulated to the commercials and score updates. My Tide is playing. What's more, they're playing that other team in Alabama. Good luck, Ohio State, I won't be watching.

This week, in his column For Argument's Sake, ESPN's Ivan Maisel compared the two rivalries. I think that this sums it up nicely...

"We live in the era of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. It has everything: top rankings, great tradition, compelling backstories. The game Saturday will be the pinnacle of all that college football fans hold dear.

(And my employer, which will be televising it to an audience that will be as big as any regular-season game in recent memory. I know this because my wife wrote the game time down on the kitchen calendar so that she will remember to watch it. We're talking big Nielsens).

The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry has every element of a great college football rivalry but one, the one that means it will never be the greatest rivalry.

When the game is over, Ohio State fans will remain in Ohio and Michigan fans will return to Michigan.

In Alabama, the losing fans have to go to work on Monday and face their co-workers from the other side.

When you can never let your guard down, a rivalry is a 365-day affair.

The Iron Bowl engages more people in Alabama than any other event, sporting or otherwise, in the state. There is no NFL team, no major-league professional team of any kind. The state plans its life around the game.

In 49 states, Ohio State and Michigan will win the TV ratings. But when Auburn and Alabama meet at 3:30 on Saturday, you can book that no one in the state will know or care who wins at the Horseshoe.

Yes, as an Alabama native, my perspective might be skewed. But my logic isn't. Ohio State-Michigan is the most important rivalry now. It is and always will be a grand spectacle. But until Ohio and Michigan become one state, Alabama and Auburn will be the best rivalry in college football. "

And that's why I, when I was younger, cried when Alabama lost this game. It's why I'd try to think up reasons to not go to school if Alabama lost, and couldn't wait to catch the bus if they won. It's why I remind my friends today that while OSU-Michigan is a great, great game, it is not a blood feud.

Some randomness...

I finished with two wins, one loss, and two draws (2-1-2) at the Time Spiral prerelease on Saturday. I just missed the top 8. Josh, however, finished 7th and took home product! Congrats, Josh! Check out his audio reports over on BlackroseWorld.com.
I haven't played much online poker recently. A couple SNGs and MTTs, but not much in the way of results. Finding time to sit and devote 2+ hours to poker is getting hard. Our playgroup has been more into Magic and Settlers of Catan recently anyway.
Josh, Phill, Joe, Vance and I went to see A Scanner Darkly recently. A one-line movie review is forthcoming.
Gretchen and I joined the Grove City United Methodist Church recently. Gretchen was baptised and I transferred (finally!) from my old church in Bridgeport, Alabama. We kind of figured that if we were going to spend so much time there with audio/visual/lighting (AVL) stuff, than we ought to make it official. That, and it just felt like it was time to make that commitment. We felt like that was where God wanted us to be, so there we are. It's awesome when His message can be clear like that!

Thinking about Poker...

So, I'm signed up to play in the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker or at Least Those Bloggers that Signed Up and Didn't Miss the Memo and Who Just Happen to Have a PokerStars Account on Sunday. (Seriously, the name for this thing does NOT roll off of the tongue.) I need to prepare, but I'm not sure how.

I haven't played online poker in weeks, save a few random hands in the cash games. I can't play in the WWdN, because Tuesdays are no longer good for me. Methinks that I should try some big tournaments on 'Stars, but I'm not sure what time I'm going to have. I have been playing solidly in our home games, with a 1st, 2nd, and 4th the last three weeks. So my question is...

Can I get by with home game practice against a decidedly random field of good, bad, and horrendous poker players in the WBCOP~~LTBSUDMMWJHHPA~~?

I don't really know. On the one hand, I'm pretty refreshed when it comes to online poker. I have no real expectations regarding my play because I'm not sure where I am with my online game at this very moment. I'm also making good reads and trusting them in our home game, and I'm mostly getting my money in with the best hand. Trusting your reads is essential, so I'm ahead there.

On the other hand, online poker is a different beast. There's a skill set there that you must use more than you do offline. You have to recognize betting patterns. There are no facial expressions and chip tricks to look at, so the betting patterns are key. While I'm doing well there offline, I don't know if I'm up to par for the online world.

So what am I going to do?

I still don't know. Any suggestions?

As many of you know I went to ColossalCon this weekend and I found a group that thrives on Randomness. Trust me after seeing them in action I am surprised it works at all. What they are is a group of entertainers who host battles using the Final Fantasy battle system. You don't actually hit anyone. What you do is line up on opposite sides of the room and then play it out like the game You step forward and do your move and the other side reacts acordingly. It is very heavy on the Cosplay aspect. It is riotous. I can't wait to see the RBG again. I think they might be at Origins, I will look more into it and post an update later. I had a chance to chat with Kyo from the group after the con and he was nice enough to tell us about what they do.

I hate geese. Justin and I were traveling to the Guard Tower (sorry, they have no website), our local gaming store, and the damn things stopped four lanes of traffic! WTF?!? If, I say, if I was going to remove an animal species from the planet, the geese might have to go. Of course, if I had that kind of power, I'd probably not be focusing it on geese...

Speaking of trips to the Guard Tower, Justin and I picked up Settlers of Catan last night. This game is tremendous. It's a resource management game that requires that you accumulate resources and trade with others to develop your land. Gordon came over to Ye Olde House of JP, and we played. Justin won our first game, but I believe that future games shall be more competitive (if that's possible), since we all have a better understanding of the game (our first five turns were horrendous!). Methinks we get Seafarers of Catan next.

My birthday was on Saturday. I received a game from my wife called Sam's Monopoly. She (with varying degrees of assistance from pretty much everyone I know) created a Monopoly game based around me! She put a lot of work into it, and it was a wonderful gift. I'm a pretty lucky guy, I'd say! Maybe I can get G to post about the game...hmmm...

Magic Emperor Fun

This past weekend, Bennie Smith - magicthegathering.com columnist - proposed a "Days of Emperor Fun" (scroll down to the section headed "IntoTheAether Invites YOU") on Magic Online. The reason for this was the lack of games using the 2/2/all spell ranges and the prevalence of the 1/1/1 format (please check out Bennie's column for more information on what these numbers mean). I enjoy the occasional emperor game offline, so I fired up Magic Online on Saturday night to give it a whirl.

I quickly found a game where I could play as the emperor, so I loaded this deck:

This deck sucks.

It requires way too much help from the opposing team (they have to play creatures!) and doesn't help my flankers as much as I'd like. The first game saw me basically do nothing until one of my flankers was killed and the other conceded. I decided to join another game...this time as a flanker. The "now-infamous" deck...

This is a non-tournament worthy Boros deck, but it has some neat tricks. With Sunforger, you get to make a pretty lethal Swiftblade or Angel, and then post-combat, deal some direct damage via Sunforger's "search-for-a-burn-spell-and-kill-things-for-free" ability. The pingers (Frostwielder and the Fangtail) add some decent utility if the game stalls out. This makes a pretty good flanker deck, since you can send your burn directly at the emperor if you need to.

Of course, you could always just throw a Char at the other emperor's creatures. From Bennie's article today (I'm GL2270):

"When he tossed a Char at my Nephilim, my first thought was “Hm, isn't that going to kill him?” Then with horror I quickly realized that I would control the copies of Char that Ink-Treader Nephilim spawned, each hitting me for 2 points of damage. A quick count of the available creature targets around the board and I knew I was toast, literally."

Bennie was at 14 life, and there were seven creatures on the board he could target...

I felt kind of bad (not too much, but a little), so I switched back to my original deck. I ended up being a flanker this time, and my emperor was none other than...

I'm a touch starstruck. It passes. However, I wish I had brought my Chars. No Chars, bad deck, and me. w00t! Actually, we're competitive, but Bennie's deck does it's thing, and we go down for the count.

All in all, a great time was had. Thanks to Bennie for setting everything up, and for the pub in his article. I hope we can do this again!

EJB3 And Stored Procedures

Stored procedures support is present in EJB3 - or at least in the Hibernate implementation in JBoss 4.0.4CR2. However, what's missing is the documentation. The Hibernate 3 Annotations reference only states that stored procedures are supported by setting the callable property of the @org.hibernate.annotations.NamedNativeQuery annotation to true. I'm going to document here an example of using a stored procedure this way because it was non-obvious to me how I might go about it.

First, let’s define a stored procedure we want to call:

How's it going, happy people? I hope everyone had a happy Easter! Mine wasn't too shabby. After church we demolished a decent ham. We also got to spend the afternoon with Gretchen's brother and our sister-in-law (Kurt and Heather) and our nephew, Connor. Not a bad day at all.

Last night, I got on Magic Online to sling some virtual crack. After winning in a 2-Headed Giant game, I hooked up with my brother-in-law Rex, whose wife (my sister Tamara) and family lives in the cabin on my mom's property in Dunlap, Tennessee. Anyway, Rex and I played a few games after their Easter dinner. Apparently, my mom was fooling around with the MTGO program and learned how to play! She really seems to dig the game and was beating on the computer while Rex and I slung spells at each other. Mom has always had an inner geek that was just itching to get out, and I think that it's closer and closer to jumping out and saying "Hi!" You go, mom!

In semi-related news, Team RandomHumans shall be visiting the Ohio Expo Center this Saturday for the Dissension Prerelease event. It looks to be Josh, Justin, Gordon, and myself. If I'm not back by Sunday, call Gretchen.

I went curling on Thursday instead of playing poker. It was fun. I wasn't very good.

Ahem...really. Yeah, so Gretchen and I went curling with Lynn, Heath, and Lisa (friends and coworkers). It was a "Beginning Curler Clinic" hosted by the Columbus Curling Club (Columbus has a curling club! Who knew?). Heath was the best at it, and I...well, I got really sore. It's more work that you'd think if you've just watched it on TV. Great fun was had, and it's something I could see myself doing again sometime in the future.

On Friday, I saw V for Vendetta with Justin and Gordon. I have but one word for that movie:

HAWESOME!!!!

Hugo Weaving is the man (even though you basically never see his face), and Natalie Portman was very good as well. My new mission...to find a copy of the graphic novel and find out why in the hell Alan Moore had such a problem with it. I know the book was tremendous, but I never got to finish it. Soon, very soon...

If you checked out BlackroseWorld, you know about Saturday's Magic tournament. If you didn't...you are bad. Very, very bad. We finished 4-3, but had a tremendous time. Two-Headed Giant Sealed is an amazing format, and we will be playing again! (I'll be throwing up a cross-post to both blogs with links to each audio update soon.)

On an unfortunate note, I probably won't be hitting the online poker bottle as hard over the coming weeks, due to a weird funk that's affecting my ability to focus and play my best. I need to limit my online poker time and see where it leads. I'll probably play in the random WWdN tourney, but that's about it for now. It's a good thing, methinks and mehopes.

A "Poker Champ" Falls...

Last night on PokerStars, an "invitational" tournament of sorts was held. From Wes (Boobie Lover):

"Poker Champ is getting a lot of publicity from the blogosphere recently. Mostly this is due to his audacious tone, grammar, and liberal use of derogatory terms and phrases. One of the most outlandish things he has said is that there are no female poker players that can play worth a damn.

So what a better way to showcase his playing ability than to have him go up against fellow female bloggers? I've set up a tournament on Pokerstars for this to occur."

As I'm not female, I sweated this tournament while working on some other things online. From Maudie's blog:

"Mrs. BadBlood, Joanne, Gracie and myself played with the lone male challenger with a gaggle of railbirds chirping away on the sidelines."

"Then there was The Hand - three remaining - me, Joanne and him, I had nearly 5k in chips, blinds at 75/150, I had QsTs. I'm first to act and raise up to 600 to go. That guy calls, Joanne folds. Flop comes 2h Ks 8h. He checks and I attempt to steal the pot with a bet of 700. He pushed for 1010.

I had nothing but a backdoor flush draw and a froggy straight sketch. I knew he'd paired the King at least. BUT - it was a paltry 310 for me to call - nearly 10 to 1 the pot offerings, if I've done the math correctly (and we all know how stellar I am at that). So I said what the hey, and tossed the 310 in. A spade landed on the turn, and I thought, ooooo, let's have another. And, sure enough, another came.

I knocked the guy out with a runner, runner suckout. It wasn't until a few hands later when I glanced at the chat from the railbirds that I had to open up the hand history to look at the hand - yup, I knocked him out with a suckout flush alright - a runner-runner-straight-flush to be precise. Der... I didn't catch it when it happened."

It was quite beautiful. (Suckout like a champion today!*) Tequila Mom (Poker Champ's screen name on 'Stars - wierd isn't it - you should see his avatar) was trapping with the short stack on nothing but top pair. When you push like that, you can't expect a fold, so you have to just take whatever comes. I personally don't see trapping there. You protect your hand with aggression and if you get called, so be it.

"I'll be honest - I don't want to play. I have no desire to give this person a moment of my time and he certainly doesn't deserve any recognition that may come from this. That said, I am too stubborn to stay away and will show up at the time of the game and do what I do.

What I do believe in is this - race, sex, age, and religion do not affect anyone's ability at the poker table. Yesterday, Gretchen and I returned from our trip down south. My grandfather passed away on Wednesday, February 8, about one hour after G and I arrived. My mom tells the story of the time before, during, and after here.

My two cents: I've lost someone who wasn't just my grandfather, but also a dear friend. However, I thank God that he's no longer suffering with his illness and has moved on to what I believe is a much better place than this rock we're tooling around on. It's sad for us, but for him, it's all good.

As I said in one of my last posts, my mom has been a champ in all of this. I'm just glad I was able to help at least a little bit in the time I was there this past week.

A couple random things (since that's what we do here) before I go:

Baby! Damn that kid is cute. Can't be Justin's and Leslie's...just can't...oh wait, it looks like them...(awkward)...Congratulations! Since we couldn't be there for birth, expect the spoiling to be at one million percent or something.
Congrats to SirFWALGMan on winning the last WWdN tournament I participated in. Congrats to Justin for finishing 17th in this weeks tourney. Congrats to me and Justin in advance for doing well next Tuesday (power of positive thinking, right?). I plan to live blog again, so we'll see how that goes.

The WWdN tourney this week has for some reason been one of the more terrifying PokerStars tournaments I have played in. Perhaps it helps that Saw II is playing in the living room. I have had some great hands - even big slick, but big slick is rather an underdog to bullets. OOpsie!

My wife and I would like to welcome our new baby girl, Emily Elizabeth, to this watery little rock. She was born today at 10:49am, weighing in at 6 pounds 4 ounces, and 50cm (about 19.5 inches) long.

UPDATE 3:24 PM Emily is now learning the fine art of breastfeeding!
