Its 8:41, and I'm already officially sick of April Fools. Sigh. I fear I have become a curmudgeon.

Rock Kept Us Alive

The handful of readers still left at this here corner of the online blogopolous are quite familiar with my love of webcomic Home on the Strange. Unfortunately, Ferrett and Roni decided to call it quits, and so my webcomic reading returned to the old standbys of PvP, Penny Arcade, and Dilbert.

So, Ferrett's got a new comic out called My Name Is Might Have Been. It's just starting out, but I gotta tell you, it's good stuff. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the main character Pete comes to a monastery...and well you'll have to see the rest for yourself. The first comic is here. Start at the beginning and read the commentary from the creators. If you don't like it, well...it was free.

In other webcomic news, Scott Kurtz (creator of PvP) has launched Ding!, a comic starring his PvP characters in World of Warcraft. It's good stuff, and heavy on teh funny. You're probably going to need to understand WoW to get a lot of the jokes, but feel free to stroll by.

Speaking of WoW, a month or two ago, we started our own guild (finally!)—The Power of Pants! If you have a toon on the Gnomeregan server, check us out. We'd love to have such fine readership join us.

Polar Plunge 2008

My younger brother, Matt, is participating in Polar Plunge 2008, a fund-raiser for the Special Olympics in Virginia. He will be jumping into the Atlantic Ocean in winter. I personally believe that he is perfectly qualified for such a feat, as he spent many a summer in the uber-cold waters of Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee.

The tricky factor is the cold air...can he do it? Of course, he can!

Now I don't know that Mr. Ferrett has any idea that the usage of the word "pants" is a trademark of us here at RandomHumans.com (in fact, I quite doubt it), but it's still pretty darn cool to see in print. The pants is taking over people...don't try to fight it, just go with it. It's bigger than you, it's bigger than me.

God help us all...

Alabama 41, Arkansas 38

I just realized that I hadn't posted my weekly Alabama update! Oh, no! Well, the Tide was able to manage a 41-38 victory over Arkansas last weekend.

Alabama dominated early, getting out to a 21-0 lead. Alabama would also lead 31-10 late in the 3rd quarter when Arkansas's Darren McFadden proved why he's the best player in the SEC (maybe the whole country), leading the Hogs to four consecutive touchdowns and a 38-31 lead in the 4th quarter. Alabama's offense then came back to life, driving down and getting a Leigh Tiffin field goal to make it 38-34. The Tide defense held, and QB John Parker Wilson drove the offense down to set up this play:



Alabama picks up their first 4th quarter come-from-behind victory in four years and moves into the rankings for the first time this season. Alabama moves to 3-0 on the season and into contention for the SEC West.

This week: Georgia.

Alabama 24, Vanderbilt 10

Alabama moved to 2-0 on Saturday with a big win at Vanderbilt. Terry Grant had yet another 100+ yard afternoon, and the Tide was able to hold off the much-improved Commodores. For video highlights of the game, go here to see ESPN's coverage.

Speaking of ESPN, next week's game is televised on ESPN2 at 6:45 PM, EST. The opponent: Arkansas.
