How could you be so stupid?

How could you be so vain?

How could you lie to us?

On Monday, Baltimore Orioles first baseman Rafael Palmeiro was suspended by Major League Baseball for violating their steroid policy.

Yes, Rafael Palmeiro.

You know, the guy who has over 500 career home runs. The guy who just recently grabbed his 3000th hit. The guy who, up until Monday, had everyone defending his Hall of Fame candidacy. The guy who wagged his finger at Congress while testifying that he never used steroids and that Jose Canseco was full of crap.

Full of crap? Maybe. Looking a little more credible? Definitely.

I am not here to defend Jose Canseco or his tell-all book. Quite frankly, I don't care whether it's true or not. However, he implicates Palmeiro, and Raffy got caught. It sure has me scratching my head.

Of course, maybe Palmeiro just took steroids after an April and May to forget. Maybe he took them, as he says, "unknowingly." Maybe he's a career doper.

Or maybe he's just an idiot.

Either way, he needs to come clean. He needs to tell everyone what he took, when he took it, and where he got it. If he truly meant what he said on Capitol Hill, he will do this.

Or maybe he'll just continue to be an idiot.
