Alabama 35, Utah State 3

Alabama does it again, beating Utah State 35-3. Nothing much of note here, although DJ Hall had yet another 10+ catch game. Hopefully, this offensive outburst will continue over the next three games.

Next up -- Mississippi State in Starkville.

WWdN Tournament

I'm playing in the WWdN Tournament on PokerStars right now. Currently, I'm sitting on the left of Mr. Wheaton himself. I'm doing OK, but we're only on the second level. A note later after the tournament's over.

Wil's live-blogging the event here. I'm the first hand pre-flop raiser. I had KK.

Later...

Update 11:48 PM: I'm out of the tournament. However, I hit the money...

PokerStars Tournament #14090593, No Limit Hold'em
Buy-In: $10.00/$1.00
118 players
Total Prize Pool: $1180.00
Tournament started - 2005/10/28 - 21:00:00 (ET)

Dear RandomSam,

You finished the tournament in 11th place.
A $14.16 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

Not a huge cash award, but I'm happy to have done so well. My end came when I had Qd-10c before the flop in the small blind. I raise in an attempt to steal the pot, but was called by GRobman.

Flop comes Qh-6h-3h. I bet, he calls.

Turn comes 8d. I check. GRob goes all-in and I reluctantly call. He shows pocket 8's.

River is the 4 of spades and I'm out in 11th place.

Wil has been live blogging the event over at CardSquad, and I'm mentioned more than once. It was a great experience, and I can't wait to play in the next one, which I'll post a link to once Wil announces it officially.

Update 12:18 AM: GRobman won the tournament! Makes me not feel so bad. He proceeded to take my chips (among others) and break the last 10 players down. Congrats!

Finally!

After the weekend I had gaming-wise -- losing to quad 2's on Friday, getting slapped around at Magic on Saturday, and a forgettable Blogger Championship -- I finally cashed in a tournament on PokerStars tonight. Cashed in quite the good way...

PokerStars Tournament #14267688, No Limit Hold'em
Buy-In: $5.00/$0.50
9 players
Total Prize Pool: $45.00
Tournament started - 2005/10/25 - 22:07:45 (ET)

Dear RandomSam,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $22.50 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

Congratulations!
Thank you for participating.

During the tournament, I put a player out with a Royal Flush. Here's the chat transcript:

RandomSam: shows [Jd Js] (a Royal Flush)
PhiDelt833 said, "royal"
RandomSam collected 20 from side pot
SPEUNC: shows [Ad 6h] (a pair of Aces)
PetitCajun said, "wow"
RandomSam collected 345 from main pot

It feels quite good. I can go to bed now.

Alabama 6, Tennessee 3

Alabama picked up a HUGE win Saturday, defeating Tennessee 6-3. It was a hard-fought defensive battle that culminated with a field goal by Alabama's Jamie Christensen with 13 seconds left. Tennessee had won 9 of the last 10 in the series.

Alabama plays Utah State at home next week.

Roll Tide!

Quad 2's with the HAMMER

I just got knocked out of Wil Wheaton's Friday night online game over at PokerStars.

I finished 50th out of about 150, not bad.

I lost with a semi-bluff.

I had A-6 offsuit.

Flop comes 2-2-2.

I go all in (I didn't have an extremely large amount).

I'm called.

Opponent had 7-2 offsuit.

Good Game.

I had a great time, and I hope to do it again. Now I have to get ready for Ohio States (Magic) tomorrow and the Blogger Championship Sunday.

I can't believe I busted out to the HAMMER that way. Wow...

Gamers more grown up than lawyer.

Duh.
If you haven't been following the story, Jack Thompson dared the computer gaming industry to produce a twisted, self effacing revenge fantasy in return for a $10000 donation to charity.
Someone did it.
Jack welched on the bet, claiming it was satirical.
So Penny-Arcade made good on his bet. In his name no less.

Please go patronize Penny Arcade. They're funny, vulgar, classy, and even talented ;)

Alabama 13, Ole Miss 10

It wasn't as pretty as the Florida game, but Alabama continued their winning ways on Saturday, beating Ole Miss 13-10 in Oxford. It was a hard-fought defensive game that came down to a field goal as time expired.

Alabama avoided the upset bug and will continue their quest for an SEC crown at home October 22 against Tennessee. It should be a tremendous game.

Also, Alabama has moved up to #5 in the polls. W00t!

It's very orange...

Random Insults For Random Humans

Well here we are with my first post to RandomHumans.com and this is truly an honour for me. Alright - enough butt kissing and down to why I am posting today. It's all about the Random Insults. They have four styles of insult generation: Auto Flamer (for a riotous comment post), Stylemonger(for when you want a flair for the dramatic), Shakespearean (for all you lit people),
and the Slangmonger(for when you in the ghetto G). Also if you have any problems they have a wonderful problem solver.

Let The Insults Begin!

Supreme Court...well, it's supremely something...

Wil Wheaton posted this today. It's right on the money, and I reproduce it here...

"So the best candidate to replace Justice O'Connor on the Supreme Court of the United States just happens to be a sycophantic Bush Crony who lead the search.

Wow. What are the odds?"

Indeed, Wil. Indeed.

Alabama 31, Florida 3

I'd like to officially advise everyone that Alabama football is back.

Back to the Top 10.

You can't get too excited over one victory, but the 31-3 drubbing of 5th-ranked Florida sure makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I was 15 in 1992 when Alabama won their last National Championship. Since then, they haven't really come close. Even when they've won (like 1999's SEC Championship team), it's been due to overachievement. More often than not, however, it's been a mediocre bowl game or probation (which makes whatever is done irrelevant).

This week is an off week, and Ole Miss is next. It will be televised nationally (either CBS or ESPN2) and I'll be watching to see if they suffer a letdown or if I can really get fired up!

Roll Tide!

Dig this lighting...
